It's amazing the lists that are out there these days. People with no talents to speak of are out there creating lists about classics that should no longer be classics and rappers who cant rap and overrated singers. Granted, there are awful movies and terrible singers out there but different strokes for different folks. I think Jennifer Lopez can neither sing nor act and her butt is NOT all that..... However, she makes millions while I pull in $770 a month so who am I to judge right? Even if one is going to make a list why not start with a disclaimer stating that this is YOUR opinion and not make it a definitive list of what is crap and what isn't. Am I right? Does anyone not agree with me?

My Current Dilemma

I NEED A JOB! That is my one and only dilemma right now. I want a lab/research job but all the experience I have is teaching. However, I HATE teaching. I'm told I am good at it, but that is only if I have receptive minds to work with. The apathy I will be forced to encounter especially from these American kids who have NO home training and even worse academic one is.......well lets not dwell on it.

So anyway I am caught in that famous of all Catch-22's to get a job I need experience. But to get experience I need a job! How, I am yet to comprehend, am I supposed to get a Bachelor's, a Master's, and FIVE years experience and STILL be a "young candidate"? How does that work?

I have been revamping my resume and TRYING (really hard) to write an impressive cover letter but to no avail.

HELP!!

Blogs; A waste of time?

Why do I even bother with this blog? Does anyone truly care?

Investments

So I've joined this MSN CAPS thing on ...MSN duh!! Its supposed to be this support system for small time investors......or wannabe investors like me.

I am currently suffering from some serious nightly shakes over my finance. Currently I'm using about 60 % of my line of credit (in a fit of boredom, I calculated it a couple days ago) which is soooo not good! I'm trying to figure out how to pay it down, but I was just recently dumb enough to spend a huge amount on two of my cards. Sure I can pay it off, but I could have used that money to reduce my 60 % used line of credit. I'm pathetic........

Naija 419 vs Yankee 419

I started this awhile ago, on a day when I had......well, nothing to do. decided to finish it:

Now that I have no water and so cannot go out or anything :( I have ample time to gripe and talk and complain. Everyone even my personal boy Obama has been dissing Nigeria and our yahoo-yahoo boys. but there are even bigger cons going on here in the States....at least I think so anyway

lets start with the first one that made me even decide to write this:
1. in nigeria we all have the opinion that the lack of power is deliberate. someone is benefiting from it and we all think its the gen companies. no electricity means a booming business for the generator providers. its a thriving business with a guaranteed income. here, the lack of electricity is replaced with identity theft and "credit history". everyone is getting in on the business. you sign up 4 a credit card, they offer you this "account protection" crap with a 30 day trial. like in 30 days you're going to lose your job, fall ill, or die. then the freaking credit score that is SOOOOOO essential, FICO charges you $50 minimum to see a number that rules your entire life. even phd programs and jobs use it to decide if they want you. how suckie is that?
in america, credit rules your life. decides what apartment you can get. your cable provider uses it. no cell phone. you cant buy a house; or a car.
Wait, technically, you CAN do all these things without it, but you would have to be earning some serious cash to be able to pay cash for a house or a good car or buy cards for a cell phone where you're charged access fee every call and you're charged for both outgoing AND incoming calls. which brings me to the next gripe:

2. My non-fellows Americans! are you aware you are the ONLY nation in the world where you are charged for INCOMING calls and texts? imagine! someone thinks of me and i pay for them wanting to talk to ME! if that is not the HEIGHT of ridiculous, i dont know what is. then there is the fact that their cell phone system is the most backward. AFRICA yes AFRICA has better cooler way more technologically advanced cell phones than the US. I swear! o and by the way, there is a COMMISSION that monitors any reports of abuse or complaints cell phone customers have. the proceedings are held live and the companies HAVE to follow the directives laid down. NO FINE PRINT!!

3. Ah yes, the fine print. My banks send these tomes listing all their rules and regulations about how you will be charged (and charged again for going overdraft from those charges!). but of course all this is buried so deep in legalese that you are blissfully unaware of how u sold your soul..... then there's the check processing fee. choose to pay your bills etc via check, and you pay with your bank account. or my goodness the monthly "maintenance fee" what they are "maintaining" the world will never know. then the sucky savings account with the even suckier charge for "excessive withdrawals". IMAGINE i'm getting charged for spending too much of MY money. and its not like the rates are anything to write home about. 0.5% annual return (OH WOW!!!!).

4. I am severely short-sighted and I have a sweet tooth. therefore i get to see the two types of health care professionals NOT covered in the regular insurance. my last eye test cost $110: test $90 + additional $20 for the "glaucoma test". ever since that dumb test, my eye tears up and burns if i'm reading or even just have my eyes open for too long. i cant go see the doctor again, cant afford. i filled two teeth last month at my dentist. i have another appointment next week for the other 2 cavities, but i'm not going cuz i'm still recovering from the financial pain of the first fillings. it, would be cheaper for me to buy a ticket, fly to another country and have better work done for 1/4 of the price. Non-fellow Americans I kid you not. Your current health care plan SUCKS. and no one wants to do anything about. we'll rant more about that another time. for now, lets continue on how americans con more money out themselves than these "nigerian scam emails" (NOTE THE QUOTATION MARKS!!!)

5. About the above quotation marks. i get solicited CONSTANTLY via email, on tv, over the phone by WHITE AMERICANS trying their darndest to get me 2 put money in an envelope and send it to them quickly. these guys couldn't possibly be taking orders from a "nigerian princess" could they? is blue hippo secretly run by nefarious african imps? or free credit report.com (catchy tune) that neglects to tell you the credit report isnit really free. and what about that fast talking guy raking in millions by rapidly telling u all the catches to the FREE, $500 REBATES etc the other announcer just used 48 seconds of a 50 seconds ad to talk about

i grow weary. cant think of #6. if you wanna add go right ahead. my eyes have started to burn and water (DAMN THAT OPTHAMOLOGIST!!!)

For the Africans dreaming of a better life

This is just a small gripe. All of you looking for a better life in yankee. I went without light a couple days ago. Do you know you cant even go on the internet without electricity? Now this morning I went to the bathroom to take a shower.....NO WATER!! grrrrrrr

better life my ass

the future of nigeria

i just read my friend's blog about the mind set of nigerians. it so sad really. we are the most hard working people in the world. yet, our country is in shambles and we are rated the most corrupt country in the WORLD. why is this? everyone i know are hard working. they shine at their place of work. and they got where they are honestly. so where are the crooks coming from? over 90% of my generation have some form of tertiary education so why is it that we are still considered a third world country with a high illiteracy rate?

it is so insulting to someone with my level of education to watch the commercials on american tv. these days, companies have noticed that the best way to entice consumers is to show a starving child purportedly in africa and then promise that 1 cent/dollar whatever will go towards feeding this child or curing aids. as far as i am concerned there are just as many starving children right here in the US and their HIV population higher. but how is my one voice going to stand out when every other is shushing me down. nigerians agree the image projected is wrong but they "cant do anything" because they dont want to "offend their american benefactors".......whatever that means. when are we going to stand up for ourselves?

i hear there is an "indecency bill" being passed through the house. is that what is now the priority in nigeria? our schools, hospitals, roads are falling apart; we are nobodies in the international community; our brain drain gets severe with each passing day, yet the most important bill in the house is whether spaghetti straps should be outlawed. figures no? there is no electricity 20 hours out of the day forcing our international investors to pack up n return home. but by god! our kids (well the females anyway...we all know who the real targets are.....) will dress "decently". decently being an hypocrite's definition of it. doesnt matter that half of those passing this law cannot read it talk less of edit it for grammatical errors. or that covering up wont help us when we're sick but the nurses and doctors are still on strike because they havent been paid in a year. or the house of rep to sign the bill died because the power went out during an operation to save him after that motor accident that happened when his car flipped after hitting that HUGE pothole on the highway..........i could go on.

i suck at writing. and i call myself incoherent with reason. but o if only more than just 1 person could read this n not just gain something from but actually speak up and speak OUT!
